Week 1: "Hangers are provided in the MTC"

My packing list said hangers are provided in the MTC but
this is how many hangers they mean by "hangers are provided"

I made it safely to the MTC! All the way in Utah! It's been a long but good few days. There are eight elders and six sisters in my district; they're going to North Carolina Charlotte, Tennessee Knoxville, Washington D.C. North Visitor's Center (represent!), Iowa Des Moines/Iowa City, Texas Houston, and Arkansas Little Rock. Lots and lots of English! My companion's name is Sister Stolrow; she's going to North Carolina. I've seen lots of people I know here, which has been super fun! And our teachers are great.

The girls in my district!

Me & my companion
It turns out that when you go on a mission, they expect you to talk to other people instead of just regurgitating scripture mastery, so I've been working on that all week. We've been practicing teaching people and preparing lessons even though we just got here -- they're really into jumping in head first and learning by experience. I almost cried when we had to contact investigators yesterday, but it turned out to be okay, and then I was super excited to plan what we were going to teach the people we met!

On the first night we were here, I didn't eat my banana at dinner and I didn't want to waste it so I took it back to my room and ate it that night. The next day I saw the signs that said that missionaries aren't allowed to take food out of the cafeteria, including whole fruits. #whoops

This week, we focused a lot on teaching people instead of lessons and how we can fulfill our purpose to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end both in the MTC and in the mission field and on how to contact people and start teaching lessons. We've also been doing lots of studying -- personal, companionship, district... And we played kickball last night! But elders can only hit elders and sisters can only hit sisters, so it was a little bit complicated. Just a fun little twist.

Love you lots & lots!
